Nam Mouan Dam Hydropower project is planned to be located on the Nam Mouan (river) in Vong Thong District, Bolikhamxai Province, Lao PDR.

The image below shows our best guess of the project location at roughly 18°47'39.6"N 104°16'10.1"E (18.794321, 104.269463) but we aren't sure and these are not reliable coordinates.

Nam Mouan HPP is planned as a 100 MW reservoir-based project with expected annual output of 450 GWh.

In 2025 we are not sure what stage the project is in. The last report from a few years ago has the project in a "study" phase.

The net head of the project is estimated to be about 115 meters.

The project cost is expected to be around $188 million dollars US.

At one time the project was to be developed and owned by Chubu Electric Power which is headquartered in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan.

In Feb. 2024 a Facebook posting indicated that an initial River Engineering/Morphology Investigation of the proposed Nam Mouan Dam site was ongoing to develop Nam Mouan Hydropower Projects on the Nam Mouan (River).

Nam Mouan project may be able to export its output to Vietnam.
