Nam Yeim Dam Hydropower by Hobo Maps - Go to Hydropower Projects Page - - Home

Nam Yeim (Yiem) Hydropower project is located in Mok District, Xieng Khuang Province of northern Lao PDR.

Nam Yeim Hydropower project is developed by Phongsubthavy Group in year 2024 with intent to sell output to Vietnam when the project is completed.

The project is to have 10.2 MW capacity.

A web search found that Nam Meng Electric Co., Ltd. has filed a 2020 report regarding work for a project under the name Nam Yeim Hydropower Sole Co. Ltd. We assume temporarily that this would be the owner of the project but it needs confirmation.

A report also states that residents of six villages including Ban Nam Yiem will to be impacted by the Nam Mo 1 reservoir. Our research failed to find where Ban Nam Yiem is located precisely but if Nam Yeim HPP is located close to Ban Nam Yiem village it would be close to the Nam Mo 1 reservoir when fully impounded as seen on the terrain map below.

Nam Yeim Hydropower project is probably located somewhere on the Mok District map below but we aren't sure where.

Nam Yeim project construction images below from 2022 or 2023 where construction seems quite far along already.

Various news reports in June 2021 reported that Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has exchanged power purchase contracts with Phongsubthavy Group for the Nam Yeuang hydropower plant cluster, the Nam Mo 2 project, Nam Tai, Nam Sak, Nam Sao and Nam Chao hydroelectric plants. Since Nam Yiem HPP is probably located close to these plants, it might be easy to add output from it to this 220 kV export transmission line.
